I am trying to update an iPhone 3GS from iOS 3.1.3 to 4.3.5 without updating the baseband. After using TinyUmbrella and the Recovery Fix tool, the device is still stuck in recovery mode. How can I resolve this loop while keeping the baseband intact?

To resolve a recovery mode loop on an iPhone 3GS after a custom firmware update, try using a utility like RecBoot or ReiBoot to send the exit recovery command. If the device returns to recovery mode, it likely indicates a firmware mismatch or a failed baseband preservation. You can use iREB to enter a Pwned DFU state and then restore using a custom IPSW created with Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool. If preserving the baseband for an UltraSn0w unlock is no longer necessary, a standard DFU restore through iTunes to the latest supported version of iOS will also fix the issue.
