Restoring an iOS 7 Backup After Downgrading to iOS 6.1.4

I recently downgraded from the iOS 7 beta to iOS 6.1.4. Before downgrading, I performed a full backup of my device to my computer. Now that I am back on iOS 6.1.4, I am unable to restore that backup to retrieve my apps, photos, and other data. How can I get my data back from an iOS 7 backup onto a device running iOS 6?

Apple does not officially support restoring a backup from a newer version of iOS to an older version. If you backed up your device while it was running iOS 7, that backup is incompatible with iOS 6.1.4. To get your data back, you would typically need to upgrade the device back to iOS 7. If you must stay on iOS 6, you can try using third-party backup extractor software on your computer to manually pull photos and database files from the iOS 7 backup folder. Alternatively, if your contacts and photos were synced with iCloud or another service like Google or Dropbox rather than just stored in the device backup, they should sync back to your device automatically once you sign into those accounts on iOS 6.1.4.
