I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 6 with baseband version 04.12.02. I want to unlock it to use with other carriers, but I am not seeing options for this version. How can I unlock this device?

The 04.12.02 baseband found on the iPhone 4 cannot be unlocked using software tools like Ultrasn0w. Software unlocks were only possible on much older basebands. To unlock an iPhone with this baseband version, you must obtain an official IMEI unlock. The best way to do this is to contact the carrier the device is currently locked to and request an unlock. Most carriers will provide this for free if the account is in good standing or the contract has been fulfilled. Once the carrier processes the request, connect the iPhone to iTunes with a SIM card from a different provider to complete the activation and unlock process.
