I have a jailbroken and unlocked iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1 with baseband 05.13.04. I want to update to iOS 6.1.3 while preserving the baseband to maintain my ultrasn0w unlock. I am using a Mac and need a solution that does not involve sn0wbreeze.

To update your iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.1.3 while preserving your 05.13.04 baseband on a Mac, you should use RedSn0w 0.9.15b3. First, download the iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.1.3 IPSW files for the iPhone 3GS. Open RedSn0w, go to Extras, then Select IPSW, and select the iOS 6.0 firmware so RedSn0w can recognize the device build. Next, go to Extras, then Even More, then Restore. Click IPSW and select the iOS 6.1.3 firmware file. When RedSn0w asks if you want to preserve the baseband, select Yes. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter DFU mode. RedSn0w will then create a custom firmware and restore your device without updating the baseband. Once the restore is finished, you can jailbreak the device and then install ultrasn0w from Cydia to re-enable your unlock.
