Every time I try to put my iPhone 4 into DFU mode it enters Pwned DFU mode. I am trying to upgrade from iOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 using redsn0w, but the process fails because it requires standard DFU mode rather than a pwned state.

To enter standard DFU mode rather than Pwned DFU mode, you should perform the hardware button sequence manually without using software tools to automate the entry. Pwned DFU is a specific state achieved when a jailbreak tool like redsn0w sends an exploit to a device that is already in DFU mode. If you are following a guide, ensure you are not selecting an Enter Pwned DFU option specifically. To enter DFU mode manually, follow these steps: 1. Connect your iPhone to your computer and turn the device off completely. 2. Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds. 3. While continuing to hold the Power button, press and hold the Home button for 10 seconds. 4. Release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for approximately 15 seconds. The screen must remain completely black. If the Apple logo appears, you held the buttons for too long and must restart. If the screen is black and your computer detects the device, you have successfully entered standard DFU mode.
