I am attempting to jailbreak my white iPhone 4 (iPhone3,3) on iOS 7.1.1 using Pangu. The process starts correctly, but after the device reboots, it hangs on the Apple logo or Pangu returns a timeout error. I have tried the process several times without success.

To fix errors during the Pangu jailbreak process for iOS 7.1.1, it is best to perform a full restore via iTunes rather than an Over-the-Air (OTA) update. Before starting, ensure you have a full backup of your device. During the jailbreak, you must manually change the date on your iPhone as prompted and look for the Pangu app icon on your home screen. You must tap this icon to continue the process. Also, ensure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. If you enabled the option to install the PP helper during the jailbreak, it is recommended to remove it for better stability. You can do this by adding the repository cydia.angelxwind.net/ to Cydia and installing the Complete PPSync Remover package. Afterward, check Settings, General, and Profiles to remove any 25pp certificates that may have been installed.

If your iPhone is stuck on the Apple logo after the jailbreak, you can attempt to bypass the boot loop by holding the Volume Up button while the device starts. This boots the device into a safe mode where you can open Cydia and remove any problematic tweaks that might be causing the hang.
