I am trying to re-restore a jailbroken iPhone 4S on iOS 5.1.1 back to a stock version of iOS 5.1.1 using SHSH blobs. I have the iPhone4,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore IPSW and my local SHSH blobs, but I am receiving an error during the process in Redsn0w. Is it still possible to perform this re-restore?

To re-restore an iPhone 4S on iOS 5.1.1, you must use a tool like Redsn0w and have saved SHSH blobs for that specific firmware version. Navigate to Extras, Even More, and then Restore within Redsn0w. Select your IPSW file and your local or remote SHSH blobs. A critical requirement is that the device must not have been updated to its current firmware via an Over-the-Air (OTA) update. If it was updated via OTA, the re-restore will fail. You can find the full step-by-step guide here: www.iclarified.com/25150/how-to-rerestore-your-iphone-from-ios-5x-to-ios-5x-mac

You may be encountering an error because of how the initial firmware was installed. According to the Redsn0w guide on iClarified (www.iclarified.com/25150/how-to-rerestore-your-iphone-from-ios-5x-to-ios-5x-mac), you cannot perform an iOS 5-to-iOS 5 re-restore if your current version of iOS was installed via an Over-the-Air (OTA) update. It is recommended to use the IPSW restore method via iTunes to ensure compatibility.
