To type the registered trademark symbol (®) on a Mac, press the Option + R keys on your keyboard. This system-wide shortcut works in all macOS applications, including Safari, Pages, and Microsoft Word.

1. Position your cursor where you want the symbol to appear.
2. Hold down the Option key.
3. Press the letter R key.
4. Release both keys to insert the registered trademark symbol (®).

You can also use the Emoji & Symbols viewer:
1. Press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer.
2. Type 'registered' in the search bar.
3. Double-click the ® symbol to insert it.
