Why does my Apple Watch wake me up with 'Time to stand!' alerts during sleep, and how do I turn them off?

To stop Apple Watch stand reminders from waking you, turn on a Sleep Focus schedule that covers your bedtime hours, or disable Stand Reminders entirely in the Watch app. A Sleep Focus usually silences stand alerts while you sleep without affecting daytime reminders.
The cleanest fix is to set up Sleep on your Apple Watch:
1. On iPhone, open the Health app and tap Browse > Sleep.
2. Tap Full Schedule & Options and set a sleep schedule that covers the hours you don't want to be disturbed.
3. Make sure Use Schedule for Sleep Focus is on, and turn on Turn On Automatically.
With Sleep Focus active, Apple Watch usually suppresses stand reminders during scheduled sleep hours.
If you don't want a full sleep schedule, turn off stand reminders directly:
1. On iPhone, open the Watch app.
2. Tap My Watch > Activity.
3. Toggle off Stand Reminders.
This stops the hourly 'Time to stand!' alerts at all hours. You'll still see your stand ring fill normally when you do stand, so your Activity tracking is unaffected.
For occasional control without changing settings, swipe down from the watch face to open Control Center and turn on a Focus or Do Not Disturb before bed. Stand reminders are inhibited while Do Not Disturb is active.
The stand prompt does not mean the watch detected you as awake. It fires when you haven’t stood for at least one minute during the current hour, regardless of sleep state, which is why it can sometimes appear overnight even though you’re asleep.
