I updated my iPhone 3GS with the 06.15.00 iPad baseband to iOS 6.0.1. It is now stuck at the activation screen with an error message saying iTunes is unable to proceed. I tried using Redsn0w to downgrade the baseband, but it does not seem to support the iOS 6.0.1 IPSW. How can I fix this?

The issue occurs because the 06.15.00 iPad baseband prevents official activation on newer iOS versions like 6.0.1. To fix this, you must downgrade the baseband to 05.13.04 using Redsn0w. Since Redsn0w often requires the 6.0 IPSW for identification even when working on 6.0.1, you should download the iPhone 3GS iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file first. In Redsn0w, go to Extras, then Select IPSW, and choose the 6.0 file. Then, go back and select Jailbreak, then choose the Downgrade from iPad baseband option. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter DFU mode. Once finished, your baseband will be compatible, and you should be able to activate through iTunes or via the jailbreak process.

To resolve this issue using Redsn0w, follow these steps while ensuring iTunes is not running.
1. Open Redsn0w.
2. Go to Extras, click Select IPSW, and point it to the iOS 6.0 firmware file instead of iOS 6.0.1.
3. Return to the main menu and select Jailbreak.
4. Check the box to downgrade from the iPad baseband. You can also select Install Cydia if needed.
5. Once the process is complete, close Redsn0w and disconnect your iPhone.
6. Restart your computer. 7. Open iTunes and reconnect your iPhone to complete the activation.
