I am trying to activate an iPhone 3GS that was previously jailbroken with the 06.15.00 iPad baseband. After receiving an official unlock from the carrier and updating the firmware, iTunes shows an error stating the activation server is temporarily unavailable. How can I resolve this and complete the activation?

The 'activation server is temporarily unavailable' error is a common issue for iPhone 3GS users who have installed the 06.15.00 iPad baseband. Apple's activation servers often reject devices with this specific baseband version during the activation process. To fix this, you should use a tool like Redsn0w to downgrade the baseband from 06.15.00 to 05.13.04. After the baseband is successfully downgraded, perform a fresh restore in iTunes. This should allow the device to communicate correctly with the activation servers and complete the official unlock process. Additionally, ensure you are using a valid SIM card and the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
