iPhone 3GS Wi-Fi Connectivity and Signal Issues After iOS 6.0.1 Update

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS that I updated to iOS 6.0.1 with modem firmware 05.16.07. On previous versions, the Wi-Fi worked fine, but now signal detection is very low and connections frequently drop. Other iPhones at the same location show full signal while mine shows none. I have already tried resetting network settings and adjusting proxy settings without success. Since this started immediately after the firmware update, it appears to be a software-related issue.

To troubleshoot Wi-Fi signal issues on an iPhone 3GS after updating to iOS 6.0.1, start by performing a hard reset: hold the Home and Power buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. If you have already tried resetting network settings, you should try a clean restore using iTunes. Back up your data, put the iPhone into DFU mode, and restore the firmware. This often resolves software glitches that occur during an over-the-air update. Additionally, some users have found that turning off Bluetooth can reduce interference with the Wi-Fi signal on older hardware. If the issue remains, it is possible the update has strained a failing Wi-Fi chip, but a fresh software installation is the best first step to rule out software corruption.
