I attempted to update my iPhone 3G to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband to use ultrasn0w for unlocking. The process seemed to work, but now the phone is stuck on the Apple logo. My power button is broken, so I cannot enter DFU mode manually, and my computer no longer recognizes the device. How can I restore it without a working power button?

If your iPhone 3G is stuck on the Apple logo after attempting an iPad baseband update and your power button is broken, you must use software tools to enter DFU mode. First, try connecting the device to different USB ports or a different computer to ensure it is recognized. Since the physical buttons are not an option, you can use Redsn0w to create a DFU IPSW. This is a special firmware file that, when restored through iTunes, forces the device into DFU mode. Once the device is in DFU mode, you can restore to a custom firmware file that is compatible with the 06.15.00 baseband. Tools like iREB or RecBoot may also be able to kick the device into recovery mode, allowing iTunes to see it. If these software methods fail, a hardware repair of the power button may be necessary to manually trigger the DFU sequence.
