I recently restored my iPhone 3G to factory settings via DFU mode using redsn0w and a custom 4.2.1 firmware. However, my SIM is locked and I have no service. My modem firmware is 06.15.00. I am looking for a step-by-step guide on how to unlock this device for use with other carriers.

To unlock an iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1 with the 06.15.00 iPad baseband, you must first ensure your device is jailbroken. Once jailbroken, open Cydia and add the repo666.ultrasn0w.com repository if it is not already present. Search for and install the ultrasn0w package. After installation, restart your iPhone, and your device should be unlocked for use with compatible GSM carriers. Please note that using the iPad baseband can sometimes disable GPS functionality on the iPhone 3G.
