I am looking for a reliable way to check if my iPhone 4S or any other iPhone model is factory unlocked.

One of the simplest ways to check if your iPhone is unlocked is to go to Settings, choose General, and then About. Scroll down to Carrier Lock; if it says No SIM restrictions, your device is factory unlocked. Another method is to insert a SIM card from a different cellular provider. If the phone connects to the new network and allows you to make a call, it is unlocked. If you see a SIM Not Supported message, the device is still locked to its original carrier. You can also contact your carrier directly with your IMEI number to verify the status.
