I am trying to restore my jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the old bootrom from iOS 4.1 to iOS 6.0.1 using my saved SHSH blobs. RedSn0w keeps hanging on the waiting for device screen before eventually failing. Is there another way to complete this restore on a Mac?

To restore your iPhone 3GS old bootrom to iOS 6.0.1, you should use RedSn0w to stitch your saved SHSH blobs into a custom firmware file. Open RedSn0w and navigate to Extras, then SHSH Blobs, then Stitch. Select the iOS 6.0.1 IPSW and your blobs to generate the custom file. Once finished, go back to Extras and select Pwned DFU. This puts your device in a state that allows iTunes to accept the custom firmware. Open iTunes, hold the Option key, and click Restore to select the stitched file. If the process hangs at waiting for device, it is likely a hardware compatibility issue with USB 3.0 ports. Using an older Mac with USB 2.0 or connecting through a USB 2.0 hub usually resolves this issue.
