I have an iPhone 4s that is locked to the AT&T network in the USA. I am now in Jamaica and would like to know how I can unlock it for use on other carriers.

Yes, you can unlock an iPhone 4s. The most reliable method is to contact the original carrier, AT&T, and request an official unlock through their website. Since the iPhone 4s is an older device, most carriers will unlock it for free if the contract is fulfilled or the device is no longer under an installment plan. Once AT&T processes the request, you can complete the unlock by inserting a non-AT&T SIM card and connecting the phone to Wi-Fi or iTunes. If you cannot get an official unlock, you might have previously used a hardware SIM interposer, but carrier unlocking is the permanent and preferred solution.
