Apple TV has announced a new three-part documentary series titled "Twisted Yoga," set to premiere globally on March 13, 2026.
The series comes from the filmmaking team at Lightbox Entertainment in association with Ladywell Films. Executive producers include two-time Academy Award-winning producer Simon Chinn ("Man on Wire," "Searching for Sugar Man"), Emmy Award winner Jonathan Chinn ("Tina," "LA 92"), Suzanne Lavery ("Curse of the Chippendales," "The Diamond Heist"), and Bernadette Higgins ("The Tinder Swindler," "American Nightmare"). The project is directed by Rowan Deacon, whose previous work includes "Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story" and "How to Die: Simon's Choice."
"Twisted Yoga" follows a group of young yoga students from around the world who are drawn to the ancient practice while seeking inner peace and a sense of purpose. Their journey leads them to the teachings of Romanian spiritual leader Gregorian Bivolaru, a reclusive figure who runs an international network of yoga studios centered on tantric rituals.
According to Apple, the series traces how several students begin to question the environment surrounding the organization and grow concerned that they may have become involved in a cult. As their experiences unfold, they uncover troubling allegations tied to Bivolaru's past.
The documentary also examines accusations that Bivolaru summoned select female students to his Paris apartment for private initiations. Authorities in France have brought charges against him that include human trafficking, kidnapping, and rape. Bivolaru denies the allegations.
"Twisted Yoga" follows the women as they work with French authorities in an effort to hold the yoga leader accountable. Through their stories, the series explores how a spiritual movement built around promises of enlightenment and community became the focus of a major international investigation.
The three-episode series will debut worldwide on Apple TV on March 13, 2026.
