Apple has rolled out the biggest update to App Store Connect Analytics since the platform launched, giving developers more than 100 new metrics to measure monetization and subscription performance. Apple says the refresh includes a redesigned experience that makes it easier to understand how apps and games generate revenue.
The updated Analytics experience puts a much stronger focus on monetization. Developers can now access new data tied to In-App Purchases, subscriptions, and offers, making it easier to evaluate business performance. Apple has also introduced new cohort capabilities, letting developers analyze user behavior based on shared attributes such as download date, download source, and offer start date. For example, a developer expanding into a new region can track how long it takes users there to make a purchase compared with users in more established markets. Apple says cohort data is aggregated to protect user privacy.
Apple is also adding new peer group benchmarks to help developers compare results against similar apps. The two new monetization benchmarks are download-to-paid conversion and proceeds per download. According to Apple, these benchmarks use differential privacy techniques to protect individual developer performance while still delivering meaningful insights.
The update also adds two new subscription reports that can be exported through the Analytics Reports API for offline analysis and integration into internal data systems. In addition, developers can now apply up to seven filters at once to drill down further into selected metrics and uncover more insights.
Alongside the analytics update, Apple has published a new App Store Analytics Guide in App Store Connect Help. The guide is designed to help developers build a data-driven strategy and better understand the App Store tools and features available to grow their business.
