Apple TV has released the first teaser for "Cape Fear," a new psychological horror thriller series starring Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Academy Award nominee Amy Adams, and Golden Globe nominee Patrick Wilson. The 10-episode limited series is executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
The series will premiere globally on Friday, June 5, 2026. Apple will debut the first two episodes on launch day, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31. Creator Nick Antosca serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Based on John D. MacDonald's novel "The Executioners," the series is also inspired by the 1991 film directed by Scorsese and produced by Spielberg, as well as the original 1962 adaptation starring Gregory Peck.
The story follows married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, played by Adams and Wilson, whose lives are upended when Max Cady, the notorious killer they helped put behind bars, is released from prison. Portrayed by Bardem, Cady sets his sights on the family and seeks revenge. Bardem and Adams also serve as executive producers.
The cast also includes Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder. Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer.
"Cape Fear" is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, along with Amblin Television. The series is developed under Antosca's overall deal with UCP. He produces with Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce with Spielberg for Amblin Television. The project continues Apple's work with Scorsese following Killers of the Flower Moon.
