Apple has officially stopped signing iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 for all compatible iPhone and iPad models. The change comes one week after the public release of iOS 26.4.1, a minor update that addressed bugs and improved system stability.
With the older firmware no longer being signed, users who have updated to iOS 26.4.1 can no longer downgrade to iOS 26.4. Unsigned versions fail Apple's server-side verification required for installation.
The now-unsigned iOS 26.4 was released in late March, introducing features like Playlist Playground for Apple Music, offline music recognition in Control Center, and new emoji. The update also expanded Family Sharing purchase options.
Users performing a restore will now be required to install iOS 26.4.1 or a newer available version. Those looking to check signing status or download firmware can use the iClarified IPSW Wizard.
