Apple released iOS 26.4.2 and iPadOS 26.4.2 today, delivering a minor point update for the iPhone and iPad. The software carries build number 23E261 and focuses primarily on underlying security and system stability.
Apple's release notes for the update are brief, indicating only that it provides important bug fixes and security patches. It arrives a few weeks after the company issued iOS 26.4.1 to handle lingering performance issues following the public launch of iOS 26.4 in late March.
While specific vulnerability details have not been published for this build, Apple routinely issues these updates to address newly discovered threats. The company has been dealing with active web-based attacks recently, which prompted an unusual iOS 18.7.7 security update earlier this month to protect devices running older firmware.
Users can download the new software over the air by navigating to the Software Update section in the Settings app. For those who need to perform a manual installation, direct download links are available on our iPhone Firmware and iPad Firmware pages. Meanwhile, developers are already testing the next system version, with Apple recently seeding the third beta of iOS 26.5.
