Apple has seeded the Release Candidate versions of iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 to developers and public beta testers. The update, carrying build number 23F75, gives a final look at the software ahead of its imminent public release.
The standout addition in this update is support for end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging. Apple has been actively testing this capability throughout the iOS 26.5 beta cycle. The feature works with supported carriers and will roll out gradually over time. This integration ensures that cross-platform texts and media sent between an iPhone and an Android device remain fully secure and cannot be intercepted.
The Maps app is also seeing some notable changes. Apple added a new Suggested Places feature that surfaces recommendations based on recent searches and what is trending locally. We previously saw Apple laying the groundwork for this during earlier betas, alongside backend code for sponsored local advertisements. Additionally, users can now download a new Pride Luminance wallpaper that dynamically refracts a spectrum of colors across the display.
General enhancements, bug fixes, and security updates round out the software release. Registered developers and public beta testers can install the Release Candidate over the air by navigating to the Software Update menu in Settings. Full restore images are also available to download directly from the Apple Developer Center.
