Apple is simplifying the email domains used by Sign in with Apple and iCloud+ Hide My Email. Later this summer, new addresses generated by both services will use a shared domain: private.icloud.com.
The change consolidates two separate email relay domains into one. Sign in with Apple addresses currently issued on privaterelay.appleid.com and Hide My Email addresses issued on icloud.com will both be generated on private.icloud.com going forward.
Existing relay addresses will continue to work and forward messages without interruption.
Apple is advising developers who use Sign in with Apple to update their account systems, email validation logic, and allowlists to recognize the new domain. Email service providers are also being asked to update any domain-based filtering, suppression lists, or routing rules that explicitly reference relay domains so messages sent to private.icloud.com addresses are handled correctly.
Sign in with Apple lets users create accounts without sharing their personal email address by generating a unique relay address that forwards messages to their inbox. Hide My Email, included with iCloud+, uses the same concept to create disposable relay addresses for online forms, newsletters, and other services.
