Apple Opens 20,000-Square-Foot Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston

Apple has opened a new 20,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston that will provide free training and educational sessions to small and midsize businesses.

The center gives participants access to production equipment, interactive labs, and instruction in manufacturing processes used by Apple. It is located inside the same Houston facility that produces Apple's advanced AI servers and is scheduled to begin manufacturing Mac mini later this year.

Hands-On Manufacturing Training

Apple experts will lead classroom sessions and practical workshops covering advanced manufacturing principles, final assembly, printed circuit board assembly design, automation, and machine-learning-driven quality control. Participants will work with a representative production line, a holographic table, and factory-floor equipment, and will practice responding to production issues in real time.


The first cohort consists of leaders from small and midsize businesses. Apple says it plans to expand the same hands-on training to local college students as the program grows.







The Houston location is Apple's second manufacturing education site in the United States. Its Apple Manufacturing Academy opened in Detroit in August 2025 and has since worked with nearly 1,000 U.S. companies on smart-manufacturing techniques and the use of AI in production. The Detroit program also provides on-demand virtual courses covering automation, quality-control optimization, machine learning with vision, and professional development.

AI Servers and Mac mini Production

Apple says it invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the Houston facility in less than nine months, established the factory, began production, and shipped its first advanced AI servers. The company now plans to begin Mac mini production at the site later this year.


"Today, we're thrilled to open our new Advanced Manufacturing Center, a place where businesses, workers, and students can learn," said Apple CEO Tim Cook, who also confirmed that Mac mini production will begin later this year.







The project forms part of Apple's previously announced $600 billion U.S. commitment. The company says its American Manufacturing Program partners are investing in domestic production of custom silicon, advanced components, and cover glass. Businesses interested in future Houston training sessions can register with Apple to be notified.
