Leaker Says Tata Leak Confirms Thicker iPhone 18 Pro Design

Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro is shaping up to be noticeably thicker than its predecessor, driven by significant internal upgrades and a larger camera housing.



In a recent post, supply chain source Fixed Focus Digital said newly leaked images from Apple supplier Tata Electronics appear to validate an earlier claim that the iPhone 18 Pro would be approximately two millimeters thicker overall, including its camera housing. The leaker added that the increase in thickness will be quite noticeable in the hand, describing it as surprising.


This assessment aligns with images recently exposed during the massive ransomware attack on Apple supplier Tata Electronics. Those files included photographs of devices undergoing drop testing, which the leaker said appear to support the thicker design. Earlier physical dummy models used by accessory makers also pointed to a deeper chassis and a more pronounced camera plateau.

The thicker design could provide room for several hardware changes planned for this cycle. Apple is moving to a variable aperture camera system that requires a more complex mechanical lens assembly. The additional internal space could also accommodate slightly larger batteries and a redesigned packaging method for the A20 Pro chip.

Fixed Focus Digital also said Apple intends to continue using aluminum mid-frames on its traditional slab-style iPhones for the foreseeable future. The account previously claimed the aluminum unibody design introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro lineup will carry over to the upcoming generation.
