Apple's unreleased iPhone 18 Pro supply chain has reportedly been exposed in the massive Tata Electronics ransomware attack, with leaked files identifying suppliers for hundreds of components and including photographs of devices undergoing internal drop testing.
According to a new report from Reuters, documents posted to the dark web by the ransomware group World Leaks include detailed supplier mappings for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The files reportedly identify companies responsible for hundreds of individual components, including chips on the main circuit board, battery components, and camera parts.
Apple considers these supplier relationships highly sensitive because it does not publicly disclose which companies manufacture specific iPhone components. The documents reportedly reveal which parts Apple sources from multiple suppliers and which rely on just a handful of vendors, potentially exposing both its negotiating leverage and areas of supply chain vulnerability. A person familiar with the matter said Apple is concerned about the files being shared on the dark web because they relate to unreleased products.
The leak also reportedly includes photographs of devices undergoing drop testing at one of Tata Electronics' facilities in early 2026. The images show a gray smartphone with a traditional slab design, three rear cameras, and the Apple logo. Reuters said it could not independently confirm the model shown in the photographs, although the source identified the devices as iPhone 18 Pro models.
The latest findings follow our earlier report that the Tata breach exposed more than 200,000 files totaling over 630 gigabytes, including purported Apple engineering documents, Tesla files, and documents related to TSMC and Qualcomm.
Following the breach, Tata Electronics tightened internal security controls, restricted access to sensitive systems, and hired a global consultant to conduct a forensic audit. Apple is also working with Tata on long-term security measures. Neither Apple nor Tata responded to requests for comment.
