Apple TV Unveils First Look at 'Nocturne' Crime Drama Starring Liev Schreiber

Apple TV has announced "Nocturne," a gripping new crime drama based on the bestselling novels Lazarus and The Sandman by Lars Kepler, and unveiled a first look at the upcoming series. The 10-episode drama will make its global debut on Friday, October 30, 2026 with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through December 25.



The series stars and is executive produced by Tony Award winner and Emmy nominee Liev Schreiber alongside Emmy nominee Zazie Beetz, who also serves as an executive producer, and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Stephen Graham. Schreiber plays Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who leaves Philadelphia for a quieter life in a small town in western Pennsylvania. His new life is shattered when serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham) targets the town and Jonah's family. The desperate search for Jurek's last missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), into a direct confrontation with Jurek.


Rounding out the ensemble are Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan, and Gary Carr. The series was created for television by BAFTA Award winner Rowan Joffé, who also writes and executive produces, while John Hlavin developed it for television, serves as showrunner, and executive produces. Emmy, Peabody and DGA Award winner Tim Van Patten directed the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer.

"Nocturne" is produced for Apple TV by A+E Studios in association with Range Studios. Lars Kepler, the pen name of writing duo Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril, has sold more than 20 million copies of their thriller novels worldwide. The books have been translated into 40 languages.

The series joins Apple TV's growing catalog of crime and thriller programming, including the upcoming psychological horror Cape Fear and the CIA action drama Disavowed.
