Apple Announces First Live Apple Immersive 'Friday Night Baseball' Broadcasts

Apple and Major League Baseball have announced the September schedule for Friday Night Baseball, along with the first live baseball broadcasts available in Apple Immersive for Apple Vision Pro.

The immersive coverage begins August 28 with the Boston Red Sox visiting the New York Yankees at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. One game will then be available in Apple Immersive each Friday through September 18.



The Vision Pro broadcasts will use 3D video recorded in 8K with a 180-degree field of view, placing viewers in the middle of the action with immersive camera angles around the field. During breaks in play, the broadcast remains live, with ambisonic microphones capturing the stadium atmosphere in Spatial Audio.


The production will feature dedicated replays and an immersive graphics package for lineups and statistics. Paul Severino will handle play-by-play, with Xavier Scruggs as analyst and Michelle Margaux reporting from the sideline.

Live immersive games will be available to Apple TV subscribers using Apple Vision Pro (M2 and M5 models) in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the UK, and the United States. Full-game replays and highlight packages will also be available on demand in the Apple TV app for Vision Pro.

Apple TV subscribers in 60 countries and regions can stream the weekly doubleheaders without local broadcast restrictions. Viewers in the U.S. and Canada can also choose the home or away team's local radio broadcast.

The standard Apple TV broadcasts will be called by Wayne Randazzo, Dontrelle Willis, and Heidi Watney, or Alex Faust, Ryan Spilborghs, and Tricia Whitaker, with assignments announced weekly. Siera Santos, Eric Hosmer, and Russell Dorsey will host the pregame coverage.
