Apple TV Leads Emmys With 29 Wins as 'Widow's Bay' Makes History

Apple TV finished the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards as the year's most-awarded network, collecting 29 wins across six programs. Widow's Bay led the field with 14 awards, becoming the most-awarded freshman comedy in Emmy history and setting a record for the most wins by a comedy in a single season.



At the Primetime ceremony, Widow's Bay won Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Matthew Rhys, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Kate O'Flynn, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Stephen Root, Outstanding Writing for Katie Dippold, and Outstanding Directing for Hiro Murai. Those joined eight previously announced Creative Arts wins, including Outstanding Guest Actress for Betty Gilpin. Murai became the first Asian director to win the comedy directing category, while the series recorded the most performance wins of any program this year.


The victory also made Apple TV the first streaming service to win Outstanding Comedy Series in consecutive years, following The Studio in 2025. Apple has now taken the category four times in six years with Ted Lasso, The Studio, and Widow's Bay.



Pluribus finished with six awards. Rhea Seehorn won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and creator Vince Gilligan won Outstanding Writing, adding to four Creative Arts awards for production design, picture editing, main title theme music, and sound mixing.

Slow Horses won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Saul Metzstein.



Apple's final total also included three awards each for Margo's Got Money Troubles and Palm Royale, Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series for Mr. Scorsese, and Outstanding Commercial for I'm Not Remarkable. Apple entered the Emmys with 89 nominations across 15 programs and had already collected 20 awards across the two Creative Arts ceremonies.
