Blackmagic Camera 3.5 Adds Variable Aperture Control for iPhone 18 Pro

Blackmagic Camera for iOS 3.5 adds manual aperture control for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Blackmagic announced the update on X.

The control works with the phones' 48MP Fusion Main camera, letting users adjust depth of field and exposure while shooting. It joins the app's existing manual controls for settings such as shutter angle, ISO, and white balance. Apple introduced the variable-aperture camera with the iPhone 18 Pro lineup earlier this month.

The update also adds the ability to record Apple ProRes directly to Pro Video Storage, the space iPhone 18 Pro users can reserve for high-data-rate video. Separately, Blackmagic Camera can now record Cinematic mode video. The App Store release notes also list performance and stability improvements.

Blackmagic Camera is free on the App Store. The current version, 3.5.1, is a subsequent stability update; the new camera features arrived in 3.5.
