Motorola Attacks Apple With 'No Jacket Required' Slogan

Posted July 28, 2010 at 10:34am by iClarified
Motorola has directly attacked Apple with its latest advertisement and 'No Jacket Required' slogan.

"At Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn't have to dress up their phone for it to work properly. That's why the DROID X comes with a dual antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like to make crystal clear calls without a bulky phone jacket. For us it's just one of those things that comes as a given when you've been making mobile phones for over 30 years."

Take a look at the ad below...

Good to see other companies fighting back against apples ridiculous urge to bust out other companies flaws just to make their own mistake not seem as bad....

The Droid X??? HAHAHA and NO THANKS. Have you seen the sz of that thing? Put two of them side-by-side you almost have an iPad. I'm not defending Apple by far or my dislike or the Android OS. MY beef is solely w/ the 'Droid' brand. Reason being is Droid phones make the latest Droid phone obsolete 3 wks later, due to a new one coming out hahaha. Droid/Verizon, at least make the customer feel they made a wise purchase by not having a new phone come out 2 days letter hahaha. Isn't there a Droid II coming out soon even? I swear the OG Droid wasn't out 3 months before the HTC Incredible dropped and they were offering the OG Droid at the buy-one-get-one-free promo? Apple should respond back about the X: It's not a phone. It's a TV. Because the sz of that thing is ridiculous. Welcome back to the OG Motorola flip-phone... When Verizon was Airtouch.

Funny funny funny. ROTFL. I dont see why people take themselves so seriously and fight over their phones. There are far more important causes that could use that energy. People will buy whatever phone they want. And it is great to see manufacturers pulling each other´s legs. In the end, it is us, buyers, who bear the burden of reception problems and the like. At least let's have a laugh over it.

here is apples test of the droid. It shows signal loss just like my 3GS https://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=10797 I now hold my phone differently when I want full reception, Im glad I found out about this problem I can easily cause my signal strength to drop to zero bars by holding the phone in my left hand, covering the right side with my fingers, and the back of the phone against my palm. Now when I need signal, I hold the phone with just 3 fingers, near the top. I dont use a case.

Regardless of which one is better or if everyone uses a case... I think it's awesome that motorola went out there like that.

Ok? no jacket required? so? that doesn't mean people will buy that phone more. iPhone 4 is way better than that phone. It's much more smoother and it has 10x more the apps that phone has. And No jacket required? every phone needs a casing, so incase it falls it doesnt break, no jacket required right? let me smash that on the ground let's see what happens to "No jacket required" that crap needs more jacket than the iPhone 4.

Yes, most phones will have jackets put on them. But only the iPhone 4 needs it to prevent signal loss. This was just a counter attack at Apple's ridiculous claim that all smartphones have this issue. They need to find a permanent fix to their issue. (No...I do not own nor plan on owning a Droid X. Just stating the obvious)

> This was just a counter attack at Apple's ridiculous claim that all smartphones have this issue. it seems from Apple videos that the droid DOES have signal loss if you use a "death grip" have you seen the video iclarified posted of the droid?, its in my post above

nicely said i mean majority of people buy and use a case for their phone especially one that cause you a lot. i mean"no jacket require" yea i totally agree with that cause if you put a case on that thing it will turn into a the size of my psp.

The so called "death grip" was never the issue, iPhone has a G-spot that once you let just one finger rest on the phone will loose bars and drop the call, they know that and try to shift the focus from the real problem with the "death grip" phenomenon(who hold their phone in a death grip anyway?)..some that have sight are blind and some blind do see..

Ok I'll agree with all you but cmon srsly the Droid attacking Apple like that is so shallow :\ every phone has their weaknesses. it just so happens that Apple made a small mistake and plus, ok it has signal issues so why are people still buying the dang phone, and instead of refunding them or not buying it at the first place, but instead they just buy a case and get on with their lives, cmon be real.
