Steve Jobs Says Software Update Will Fix iOS 4 Performance on iPhone 3G

Steve Jobs has reportedly responded to an email about performance issues with iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G.

I've waited patiently through 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, looking for a fix that will make my phone work again. I've read the forums that advise me to jailbreak my phone or use some other method so I can downgrade back to a version of iPhone 3, however I'm not prepared to use a method that is not supported by Apple.

Software update coming soon.

It's likely that Jobs is referring to the iOS 4.1 firmware which is currently being tested by developers. This firmware is also thought to bring a fix for the iPhone 4 proximity issues.

I have a 3GS 32GB iPhone which performs(?) in exactly the same way as the video! It is my 3rd iPhone and each and every day I feel like tossing it in the garbage. Every time I want to use something some app or other whether it\'s mail, phone or iPod I have to do a soft boot to get it to work! With any other product that is in the market this would be seen as a manufacturing defect and would be replaced. Alas this is Apple and with all their billions they won\'t do an ethical recall.

....after the 4.1 update el Jobo will release an statement saying how sorry he is for not being able to fix the issues on the 3G, then he will very kindly remind all of the amazing benefits of having the much more improved iPhone4, he will also remind every one of it\'s sheep about the evilness and all the dangers of jailbraking....btw whos retarded enough to have its 3g without jb on iOs4 ???
