A new leak today offers a look at what is purported to be the milled aluminum chassis for Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Pro. The images, shared by leaker yeux1122 on Naver, show an all-aluminum unibody design that incorporates the device's wide, horizontal camera bar.
The images seem to settle one of the bigger design questions. The wide camera bump area is not a separate glass piece, as some earlier renders have suggested, but is instead milled as part of the single aluminum body. This would contradict some earlier speculation that the Pro models might feature a part-aluminum, part-glass back with a full-width camera bar.
The use of an all-aluminum body aligns with multiple reports that Apple is planning to replace the titanium frame used on recent Pro models. Analysts have suggested the change could be to accommodate a new structural design, including an advanced vapor chamber cooling system, and to make color application easier.
The wide, horizontal camera bar has been a consistent feature in numerous recent leaks, appearing on everything from dummy units and third-party cases to photos of a device purported to be a prototype being tested in public. Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhone 17 lineup this fall.
