Engadget has posted photos of the rumored Sony PlayStation Phone.
"We assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches."
The site says a 2010 release might be possible; however, 2011 is more realistic.
And let me guess... This will in the end be marketed as a phone from SE running android (with a PSP built in) but still marketed as a phone, I have feeling it's going to be a pretty weak gaming platform, no way it's going to compete with the ds, the 3ds or even the psp, why? because developers won't see the reason developing for one specific phone and it's hardware and controls when the can target android as a whole or the iOS platform...
The Playstation phone would need to be a PSP with a phone, not a phone with psp like controls...
