Apple Surpases Microsoft in Quarterly Revenue

Posted October 28, 2010 at 6:04pm by
Apple has surpassed Microsoft in quarterly revenue for the first time in nearly 15 years. Today Microsoft reported revenue of $16.20 billion for the third calendar quarter of 2010. That is $4 billion less that Apple's $20.34 billion quarter announced last week.

While Microsoft is still generating more profit due to its focus on software, this is quite an accomplishment for the company.

This is a stupid comparison. MS sells mainly software on CDs which cost 1 cent to produce. apple maked hardware which cost hundreds of dollars to produce so its profits are a lot less!

BTW, that chart still seems to indicate Microsoft did better. Maybe focus on the period where Apple surpasses Microsoft.

Isn't it ironic people use the term "MS" when Apple merchandise and computers are significantly more expensive. Oh and apparently they're generating higher revenue. Also, Microsoft doesn't make computers or electronics (aside from the Zune)... you're comparing apples to oranges.
