Apple's Internal Dead Pixel Policy Leaked

Apple's Internal Dead Pixel Policy Leaked

Posted November 3, 2010 at 4:31pm by iClarified
Confidential Apple specifications for determining whether a LCD panel may be suitable for repair or replacement have been leaked by BGR.

The Apple Confidential specifications provided here are not for release to customers. However, they can be used in conjunction with information about the display to determine whether a customer's LCD panel may suitable for repair or replacement.

Apple Authorized Service Providers can obtain product specific pixel anomaly specifications in the Service Source documentation.

Note: If the number of pixel anomalies is within specifications, explain that to the customer. Further explain that you can replace the product, but the replacement product may have even more anomalies yet still be within specifications, and that Apple will not replace the product again if the number of anomalies in the replacement product is within specifications.

HP 24" and 30" monitor with IPS panel have zero pixel warranty. Yes that means you have 1 dead pixel, got new display. This Apple politics is unbelievable. Someone have to be crazy to buy Cinema display after this. So we buy brand new display and got 8 annoying black point and this is OK, hehe unreal. I'm not hater, also have some Apple products but this is too much...

if i dropped $2000 on a brand new 27" imac and saw 8 stuck pixels, i would not be a satisfied customer. if apple refused to exchange it due to this policy, i'd just do a chargeback on my credit card. done and done.
