Apple legal has set a notice to Netputing demanding they remove the AirPrint Hacktivator tool from download.
The developer notes that until version 1.7 of the application some 10.6.5 beta files where included in the application resource folder and where in some case used (without being really needed) by the application. As of version 1.7 only one line of code needed to be injected.
Hopefully Apple will be fine with the removal of all previous versions from the site and will let me continue to distribute the Apple files free AirPrint Hacktivator 1.7.1 and subsequent versions. This tool is free (and require a bit more steps) but provide similar results (allow you to print to OS X shared printers from iDevices) as a commercial application like Printopia.
It seems apple may have struck a deal with HP at the last minute, since if I am not mistaken most if not all the compatible printers are HP. and apple doesnt like to be underminded into losing power over its deals.
Oh, really? I must be naive to think that a company like apple couldn't think of a few lines of code.
And silly boy, It's already activated. Netputing just bridged it to the mac. everything you do with this is on your mac, not the pad
Warr was that to me. Confusing post... No one said it was done on the pad...
Ad far as I've understood the AirPrint hacktivator/activator allows you to use AirPrint with any shared printer and not just a few as default, this was originally tended by apple but for some reason change in the fnal release, this just activates the code that was already there but disabled by apple...
