Take a look as this soft cover case protects the iPad from an 8lb bowling ball being dropped on its screen from 3 feet up.
G-Form iPad Extreme Sleeve protects your iPad or iPad2 from impact by utilizing RPT-Reactive Protection Technology, a combination of PORON XRD material and proprietary G-Form design and manufacturing. The Extreme Sleeve is water-resistant, soft, flexible, lightweight and changes its molecular structure on impact.
The sleeve is available for pre-order at the link below for $59.95.
I'd like to see how the iPad performs by itself. These things are damn solid as it is.
Also, that sort of test doesn't show much. That's crushing force, and unless you can get through the tough aluminum shell, hat won't do much, particularly with the screen down like that. What you really need to worry about is the jarring force you get when the iPad itself drops, which can cause internal components to dislodge or disconnect.
Either way these things are fairly durable as it is, with the glass being the only really fragile part, and still fairly strong at that.
In the video though, the only fragile part is protected by the whole rest of the iPad, including the solid aluminum shell, so it's not likely to break.
