Apple could buy out every major phone vendor except Samsung in cash, according to Asymco's Horace Dediu. The analyst expects Apple to have about $70 billion in Cash, Cash Equivalents, Short-term marketable securities and long-term Marketable Securities.
Dediu estimates the enterprise values of the public companies selling 75% of all phones sold world-wide are as follows: ● Nokia $22.6b ● RIM $13.8b ● HTC $25.4b ● Motorola Mobility $4.2b ● Sony Ericsson $0.21b x 14 = $3.0b ● Samsung (Phone Business) $3.76b x 14 = $53b ● LG (Phone Business) $10b
He also notes that "as market values of phone vendors continue to decline, Apple's cash will continue to grow dramatically. Indeed, a time may soon come when Apple's cash will be worth more than the entire phone industry."
Ok the "intire apple" could buy nokia (phone business), or for exemple the lg (phone business etc etc etc. But for exemple too, samsung or nokia could buy the apple (phone business). Here the question is, could apple buy the intire nokia (and not just the phone business), becouse i know for sure that Nokia or Samsung could buy apple (phone business), but not the (intire) apple.
This article is not talking about Apple buying or any intent from Apple to buy these other companies but rather comparing Apples cash at hand to the worth of these other companies. Maybe some of you should read it again.
The fact that Apple is able to buy up the competition, does not equate to a good business decision. The money can be used better than buying up competition. Also it will result is focus applied in the wrong direction. Nir Hus MD., PhD.
Apple should really do that. Acquire Nokia, RIM, HTC, and Motorola with cash, move them over to the US and create jobs for Americans. Otherwise all this is bow-wow-woof-woof!
What a mean spirited remark. I'm sure he would give up every penny for being healthy. You really sound jealous of his success. You should really work on your own issues.
