Screencast, an all-new screen recording application for OS X, was announced today. Screencast features high performance screen capturing for smooth, fluid motion even at 30fps. Audio can come from internal or external mic, or the system audio. An excellent utility for software screencasters and software trainers, Screencast offers the ability to display keyboard commands, and highlights mouse clicks to better communicate which actions are being performed during screen recording.
Seth Willits, the application's developer, said, "we saw a need for a modern screen capture application with high performance, a modern OS X interface, and some enhancements to make screencasts more effective. And, we thought it should be affordable too."
The application is priced at $29.00 USD. It requires Mac OS X 10.4 with QuickTime 7.2, and is compatible with both PowerPC and Intel Macs. More information and a trial download are available at http://www.screencastapp.com/.
