Samsung has reportedly certified a SmartCover Rip-Off for its Galaxy Tab by Anymode, a company headed up by the nephew of Samsung's chairman.
9to5Mac reports that Anymode describes itself as a privately held firm founded in Korea in 2007, with "strong affiliation with Samsung Electronics for key accessories supplier globally".
Youngbo Engineering is Anymode's parent company where Sang-yong Kim is also president and CEO. Youngbo too provides solutions for Samsung, including mobile phone accessories such as earphones, batteries, Bluetooth items and other products, says the LinkedIn page. Furthermore, reader Jun explains, Anymode is selling its products in Samsung's A/S center all over Korea. One final thing: Samsung has apparently certified the Smart Case, as evident in the use of official branding in the two bottom shots. Somebody call Apple legal
The knock off covers come in five colors and functions exactly the same as Apple's. Take a look below...
The smart cover itself is a defecting (not defective) product as it damages the iPad LCD as all magnets do. My friends iPad LCD now has green spots on the bottom corner of it from the smart cover.
Samsung - why are you copying Apple. This is the reason why many tech giants are failing. They are copying!
If you wanna succeed, in this market, you have to come with something original just as apple did two 4 years ago.
