Apple Donates Refurbished iPads to Teach for America

Apple has donated thousands of refurbished iPads to Teach for America, according to a Fortune report.

The iPads were collected from first-gen owners who were told they could return their old tablet to Apple retail locations and they would be distributed to low-income teachers working with Teach for America.

The organization recruits a diverse group of leaders with a record of achievement who work to expand educational opportunity, starting by teaching for two years in a low-income community. Steve Jobs' wife, Laurene Powell sites on the board of directors and was likely instrumental in organizing the program that offered an iPad to each of TFA's 9000+ members.

Sounds like generous people donated the iPads not apple.

So in reality, thousands of very generous iPad owners donated their iPads to Teach for America. Good on them....................

The title is a serious misconception... it should state Apple users generously donate to teach for america. All apple have done in this case is be the middle man. IF apple had used their brains and thought to themselves ok here's what we should do. Donate brand new mac equipment to the schools, get the children to grow up working with mac's then once they have left school, chances are they would buy... guess what >???? a MAC because its something that they've learnt with throughout their school years.
