
Apple Donates Refurbished iPads to Teach for America

Apple has donated thousands of refurbished iPads to Teach for America, according to a Fortune report.
The iPads were collected from first-gen owners who were told they could return their old tablet to Apple retail locations and they would be distributed to low-income teachers working with Teach for America.
The organization recruits a diverse group of leaders with a record of achievement who work to expand educational opportunity, starting by teaching for two years in a low-income community. Steve Jobs' wife, Laurene Powell sites on the board of directors and was likely instrumental in organizing the program that offered an iPad to each of TFA's 9000+ members.
