Steve Jobs 'initiated contact' with Samsung in July of 2010 to try and resolve the patent dispute between the two companies, reports Bloomberg. The talks over the Galaxy smartphone were ultimately unsuccessful leading to a full out legal battle spanning continents.
Apple Senior Director Richard Lutton revealed the information during his testimony at an Australian hearing which could grant a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy devices.
"Samsung is an important supplier with whom we have a deep relationship," Lutton testified in response to questioning by Samsung lawyer David Catterns. "We wanted to give them a chance to do the right thing."
