iLounge has completed an initial 3G cellular data speed comparison of the iPhone 4S across all of the available U.S. carriers.
The data speeds seen on AT&T's HSPA network-between 2.41Mbps and 2.99Mbps down, 0.68-0.81Mbps up at our Buffalo, NY test location-far outpace those seen on either Verizon's or Sprint's EV-DO networks in the same area.
Between the two CDMA carriers, Verizon fared better save for one outlier, with download speeds ranging from 0.55-0.69Mbps down and 0.04-0.26Mbps up, compared to 0.33-0.58Mbps down and 0.11-0.22Mbps up for Sprint.
iLounge concludes that AT&T has a significant edge in 3G cellular data speeds and believes that customers will need to wait for LTE-supporting iPhones before Sprint and Verizon will be able to bridge the gap.

I "upgraded" from AT&T 3GS to Verizon 4S
Speeds on Verizon are about the same as my wife's 2G on T-Mobile
14 day return policy here I come...

They're getting slow results for AT&T. I usually get faster speeds than that. AT&T has really improved over the past year.
I made the mistake of switching to Verizon for the iPad 2. The data speeds, and even connectivity SUCK compared to AT&T. I travel a lot, and find this to be true in most places... especially abroad where the Verizon iPad 2 doesn't connect at all.
Voice is another matter, but with data, AT&T definitely has the edge (pardon the obsolete pun)

I had more dropped calls on Verizon than I do AT&T.
Who calls anyone anymore anyway?

AT&T is better fAster interest. But if your old and just want reception don't care about ICloud or online gaming go Verizon for better coverage

hm.. in Los Angeles, CA I actually got near 6Mbps (exactly at 5.98Mbps) and 1.08Mbps with 138ms.
I guess LA has a faster ATT network then newyork.
