Asymco's Horace Dediu has produced some nice charts that illustrate the Global Smartphone Market.
Dediu found that smartphones are still a small portion of the overall mobile phone market. Android has 17.6% of the overall market and iOS (iPhone only) has 4.4%. In total smartphones now make up a little over 30% of the overall market.
Within the smartphone market, Samsung has achieved 26% share, Nokia has dropped under 14%, and Apple has dropped to 14% from 19% the quarter prior. HTC has past RIM with 11% vs. 9% and Sony Ericsson, LG, and Motorola complete the rankings with 6%, 5%, and 4%, respectively.
