TUAW has received an email from an anonymous Apple Reseller with information regarding the AppleTV.
We just got an e-mail from an anonymous Apple reseller, stating that they received an e-mail from Apple with instructions to remove all Apple TV displays and literature and to destroy them (which I assume means throw away the literature, send back the Apple TVs) by September 30, 2008 at 5 PM. Additionally, the e-mail says that there will be a webcast "kick off" on September 30.
TUAW also notes that September 30th is a Tuesday and the last day of the fiscal quarter...
What do you think? Could this be the "Brick"?

I think the "Brick" would only be a upscale version of ATV if it's meant to replace ATV. Upscale definition: at least 1TB of hard drive space and couple of HDMI + Composite outlets instead of just one each. And possibly built-in Divx/Avi support so then pepz like myself don't have to hack it! Which I'd say is fairly easy to do. I've atvpatch.com's patchstick patched on my ATV which allows me watch .avi files (very popular on torrents which are not only 800MB each movie avg. but also great qlty.) - plus I can surf online as if I would do it on a computer.
But coming back to BRICK, it is probably close to unhackable then?
@ Richard...
Just as an FYI, Apple is really good at offering either replacements or discounts if new releases are within about 2-3 weeks of your purchase... Sucks about your MBP, but keep an eye out for the aTV issue...
Apple TV hasn't had much success outside the US due to a lack of available content in iTunes. The poor file support really killed it so it would make sense to scrap the ATV. Let's hope that the brick has build in HDMI and Composite!
