Apple's next generation iPad with support for LTE, a high definition screen, and a faster processor is already in production, according to a Bloomberg report.
The company's manufacturing partners in Asia started ramping up production of the iPad 3 this month and plan to reach full volumes by February, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the details aren't public. The tablet will use a quad-core chip, an enhancement that lets users jump more quickly between applications, two of the people said.
Apple is reportedly bringing LTE to the iPad before the iPhone because of its bigger battery that can support the power requirements of the new technology.
Chinese factories are said to be running 24 hours day to manufacture the new device but will halt for the Lunar New Year and then ramp up again in February.
