Fair Labor Association Chief Executive Officer Auret van Heerden said inspectors have uncovered 'tons of issues' at Foxconn's factories, according to a Bloomberg report.
"We're finding tons of issues," van Heerden said en route to a meeting where FLA inspectors were scheduled to present preliminary findings to Foxconn management. "I believe we're going to see some very significant announcements in the near future."
Van Heerden wouldn't comment further but said they plan to release more information in the coming weeks. Foxconn will be given an opportunity to contest or take steps to rectify any violations found.
Earlier this week, Apple revealed that it had asked the FLA to conduct an audit of its final assembly suppliers. Initial comments from the FLA revealed that Foxconn's facilities were "way, way above average." These comments were based on previous smaller-scale inspections of Foxconn by the FLA over the past two years.
Foxconn today announced that it would increase employee wages by 16-25%.
