iOS 5.1.1 Alert Reveals Apple May Be Readying FaceTime Over 3G

Posted May 19, 2012 at 5:17pm by iClarified
An alert found in iOS 5.1.1 by iDevice.ro suggests Apple may be readying FaceTime over 3G.

Here's the translation of how the site received the alert...

Being called by someone, although I was connected to a 3G data network, when I tried to close the 3G connection I was greeted by the message of the picture above. Normally you should not be called if I was connected to the 3G, but the call originated to me did not stop, but I just got the iPhone warning I missed a call FaceTime. Error displayed when trying to disable 3G when I was called should not occur and it clearly proves that Apple is testing FaceTime on 3G connections.

I think this is completely fake because on 5.1.1 you can't turn off your 3G to use EDGE I have a 4s with 5.1.1 and I just tried this and it didn't happen so I think IClassified should take this post off.

I suspect this WON'T be implemented on 3G, but will be applied to the new 4G iPhone 5 network. They just said "3G" not to leak the upcoming LTE network too soon.

Who cares??? I seldom use FaceTime. You have several other alternatives that allow for communications over 3G and to other no Apple OSs devices.

Apple I'm sure is ready. The question is are the carriers ready to grow with everyone else. Or are they still stuck a few years back. Seems like that's what theyre doing. The times are moving and progressing way to fast for these carriers.

Why worry about FaceTime when there are other apps out there that do the same things over the 3G network. Not only do they work but they also work crossing platforms. I can use fring and talk from my iOS dive to and android.
